How Do I Request a License in eMechanical?
If you're licensing more than 2,500 units of a musical work, you’ll need to create an HFA Licensing account.
To get started:
Visit https://www.harryfox.com/#/setup-hfa-portal
Once your account is created, you’ll receive instructions to begin licensing through the eMechanical application. To access our eMechanical application, locate the “eMech (Poli+)” link found in the “Licensing and Agreement” section of your HFA Portal.
To start, select “New License Request.” This will take you to the song search screen, where you can search by Title and/or Writer. If you know the song code, you can enter it in the last field. Then, click Search. Once search results are returned, you may review the details on individual songs by clicking the hyperlinked song codes. Please note that in some cases, song shares indicated as HFA represented may be subject to additional restrictions and/or not licensable by HFA.
Once you select a song, the next screen will allow you to choose configurations. Physical and Digital licenses must be requested separately. After confirming the song and configuration, you may begin filling in the details for your release. Mandatory fields are indicated by an asterisk.
The lower half of the request details screen will allow you to choose the rate as well as indicate if any shares are licensed directly with the publisher. In such case, supporting documentation should be uploaded. You may also provide further information pertaining to the request in the “Additional Provisions” text box. Depending on the nature of the request, HFA may require publisher approval prior to accepting the license request.
Once release details are inputted and selections have been finalized, you may submit the license request by clicking “Submit”.
